This past Tuesday, September 10th, the Brentwood boys’ varsity soccer team beat rival high school, Maplewood-Richmond Heights, 1-0. This game was Brentwood’s third of the season and junior Tyler Nelson scored in the 74th minute with an assist from senior Zach Nelson to make it a win. Varsity’s record is now 2-1.
On the same day, The JV soccer team also played Maplewood and won with a score of 2-0. This was their first game of the season and sophomore Ba Ozkan and freshman Gaspar Bustamante scored the goals.
Even though the season just started for JV, the team is feeling hopeful for future successes. “If we keep playing like this, we’re going to be a good team,” said freshman Bartu Alanoglu. Yet, the team also feels there is still room for improvement. “We could definitely work on dribbling less, and definitely talking more on the field,” said Alanoglu.
