Tonight is senior night for both football and cheer. The game is at 7 pm and we are playing Normandy High School. The players will be honored at halftime. Come out and support us as we say farewell to our beloved seniors!
Senior Isabel Soriano has been cheering for Brentwood since her freshman year. Although she loves Fall Cheer where she cheers at football games, she says that Winter Cheer is her favorite because she gets to cheer at basketball games.
“She will be missed,” said fellow cheerleader, sophomore Nadia Woodman. “She always brings a positive attitude and is a fun person to be around.” Leaving Brentwood she said her favorite memory was practice with the old cheer coach, Miss Biever. She also said her favorite cheer was “Let’s get fired up.”
Senior Jack O’Brien has been playing football for 4 years at Brentwood, His favorite NFL team is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because his grandparents live in Tampa Bay. Jack also says that his favorite player is quarterback Tom Brady because, “he is the best on the team and won many super bowls.”
O’Brien also says that it felt kind of weird to be playing with Brentwood and Clayton combined but eventually, it felt normal, “I’ve been playing with those guys for two whole years,” he said.
The position he plays is defensive line and offensive line, and his favorite thing about playing this position is tackling or, in his words: “hitting people.”
Senior August Morgan-Scott has been playing football since 6th grade and got interested from one of his friends. “My friend Logan was playing, so I just came to practice with him one day,” he said. His favorite NFL team is also the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because it was the last team his favorite player Tom Brady played for.
As far as playing high school football, Morgan Scott said, “A lot of the time it’s intense. We’re always arguing with each other, but it’s a good environment.”
On the field, he plays as a safety and wide receiver and believes that safety is the more challenging and stressful position. “You’re the last person to make the tackle,” he explained. “And if you miss the tackle, they’ll score.”
Although Morgan-Scott is passionate about playing football, he said, “I believe this will be my last year playing.”
Senior Tyler Taylor has been playing football since his freshman year, but has been interested in the
sport since he was younger. “I would see it on TV, and I would just wonder what it was like to play football,” he said. His favorite NFL team is the Ravens because his favorite player Lamar Jackson plays on it. He likes Lamar Jackson because of his vision and mobility as a quarterback.
On the field, Taylor plays both wide receiver and free safety, and he thinks that he has played pretty well this season offensively and defensively. He also thinks that there is some room for improvement, “I have some things to improve on,” he said. Taylor also thinks that it feels great to play with a different school because it has a bigger community and opportunities to meet new people. “I feel welcome at both schools now,” he said. “The environment is really enthusiastic.”
Senior Ammar Hussain and been playing football for Brentwood for all four years of high school.
On the field he plays cornerback, and he also helps out on special teams.
But according to Coach Robin, he brings more than just his playing ability to the field. “He brings commitment,” said Robin. “Ammar shows up to practice pretty much every day and just works. He doesn’t complain. He’s just out there doing whatever he can to help the team get better.”
