With a celebration of seniors on Monday and a conference-winning game on Thursday, the girls soccer team has had an epic week! On Monday, May 12th, the team played Valley Park in a home game that coincided with the team’s senior night. Not only did the team beat Valley Park with a 8-0 win, which because of the “mercy” rule meant that the game ended before it was even halftime, senior Kate Mackie scored the last goal of the game!
Katie Mackie is one of two seniors on the team this year. Mackie has been playing soccer for years and has played on BHS’s team for all four years of high school. Mackie felt like getting to score a goal on Monday was the perfect way to celebrate her senior night. Mackie is a three season athlete, so this was her third senior night of the year!
Emma Trostel is the team’s other senior this year. Trostel has been injured this season but still wanted to be involved with the team so she took on the role of manager. Although Trostel is disappointed that she hasn’t gotten to play this season, she’s happy that she’s gotten to still be a part of the team

This season has been a big one for BHS girls soccer. Not only did the team beat their rival Maplewood-Richmond Heights for the first time in 12 years, the win, meant that the girls won their conference. The game, which happened at home on Thursday, May 14th, was tied up with a score of 1-1. With only 6 minutes left in the game, star player, junior Kensington Curd, dislocated her elbow but continued to play the game, scoring a goal which won the game. The team’s record for their conference is now 10-0.
