Katie Mackie has loved basketball ever since she started playing through CYC when she was young. On Brentwood’s team, she enjoys playing with her teammates and having fun during practice. Her favorite part of the sport is making shots in games and getting back on defense. Mackie’s favorite memory this year was playing in the

Maplewood game and finally sinking a shot after a few tries.
Although Mackie is sad that this is her last year playing basketball for BHS, she’s extremely excited for her senior night — something she’s been looking forward to since last year’s senior night, which celebrated Anna Jones. Just like Jones, Mackie is the only senior on this year’s team — something she is happy to have to herself. “It’s going to be a good one,” she said. “I’m going to play Katy Perry: Firework.” There are other plans for Mackie as well, but you will just have to come see for yourself. Due to snow, the Senior Night game has been rescheduled for this Thursday, Feb. 20th in Brentwood’s gym at 5 p.m. The game will also celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness and fans are encouraged to wear blue and yellow and crazy socks!
And if you happen to miss Katie’s big night, don’t worry, she has one more to come this spring with the soccer team.
