Although Women’s History Month technically ended on March 31st — The Nest believes that women should be celebrated all year long. In this video, The Nest interviews BHS faculty and students about women who inspire them. It seems that there are a lot of mothers out there who inspire their children.
Did you know that Women’s History Month as a national observance, officially began in 1987 when Congress passed a resolution designating the entire month of March as Women’s History Month? It started as Women’s History Week in 1980, with President Jimmy Carter issuing a proclamation for the week of March 8th. In 1978, educators in Santa Rosa, California, organized a “Women’s History Week” to increase awareness of women’s contributions to society.
International Women’s History Day is celebrated on March 8th to recognize and celebrate women’s social, economic, cultural, and political achievements and to highlight the ongoing need for gender equality and women’s rights.
