“He’s just a good man, and he has a great understanding of ethics, but then he also has a strong moral compass, so he has beliefs that are rooted in integrity,” is how Principal Dr. Johnson described Assistant Principal and Athletic Director, Dr. Ayotte.
As many of you know, Dr. Ayotte is retiring at the end of this school year, marking the close of his 12 years at Brentwood. But his experience in education extends far beyond Brentwood. He has devoted 30 years to the field. Before joining Brentwood, he was at Confluence Preparatory Academy for two years, ten years in the Rockwood School District, and six years at Parkway South.
Reflecting on his time at Brentwood, Dr. Ayotte shared, “My biggest memory will be the fact that the culture, the climate, and the students here at Brentwood are fantastic.”
He explained that he chose to come to Brentwood after being moved to the central office at Confluence and missing the environment of a high school. When he found the position open here, he took it and has loved it ever since.

Guidance counselor Dr. Tamakloe shared a memory: “I just think I draw comfort seeing him at the front door every day. When he sees any of us coming early or late, he always has a funny thing to say.”
Dr. Ayotte has been a positive presence at Brentwood and will be deeply missed. His retirement aligns with his son, Nathaniel Ayotte, graduating as a senior this year. His two daughters, Amelia and Eloise, also graduated from BHS in 2021 and 2023, making his retirement feel like the end of a really special chapter with the school.
“I mean, we’re just gonna miss him. He’s this constant presence that just makes you feel better when he’s around, and we’ll just miss him,” said Dr. Tamakloe.
