The South African variant of COVID-19, known as B.1.351, has been detected in two South Carolina adults. The variant does not make people any sicker, but COVID-19 vaccines may be less effective on it. Dr. Fauci has already stated that work is underway on a variation of the vaccine designed to target it. Mass demonstrations occurred Saturday in over 100 cities across Russia in support of Vladimir Putin’s political rival, Alexei Navalny.
