I’m sure everyone reading this story right now has been on a road trip before. Whether you intentionally went out of your house to go on one, or you had no other choice but to as you wanted to go on a nice vacation in a different state.
But have you ever gone out of your way to go on a road trip before? Have you ever begged your parents to take you on one or taken yourself for one if you have your own car?
If so, then how exactly did it go? Did you listen to music during the drive, or did you just roll the windows down and enjoy the nice breeze coming through?
I know I’ve done both several times now.
The fact of the matter is road trips are an amazing experience and a great way to pass a few hours. Road trips, especially ones out in the countryside, offer a chance to escape from the craziness that goes on in the city, and the craziness that goes on in your mind, family, or whatever your problems currently are. The countryside is very peaceful, and chances are the only thing you’ll have to worry about out there is having an angry driver riding right behind you.
Studies have shown that simply staring into nature can help you meditate and get rid of all your worries, and taking a drive or a walk in the countryside definitely proves that theory to be correct as taking in the beautiful scenery and enjoying the fresh air of wide open spaces like that in the countryside is just an amazing feeling that can’t be achieved in an urban setting.
Road trips also provide opportunities to discover new towns, some of which you may have never even heard of before.
Even for myself, though I thought I knew every town that was near the St. Louis metropolitan area, occasionally, when I go on a drive around the area, I prove myself wrong and find out about a town, village, suburb, etc. that I had no idea even existed before.
And finally, as I somewhat previously stated, countryside drives can be an excellent way to improve your mental well-being, especially if it’s a sunny day outside, as when you are surrounded by natural beauty and serenity, it is a lot easier to let go of stress, anxiety, and negative emotions. It is a natural feeling to feel more relaxed and at peace after a drive out in the middle of nowhere, which can, of course, help your mood feel better.
In conclusion, just winding back and taking a drive out in the countryside, or even anywhere that’s not a super big city, can really benefit a person. If you are looking for a harmless way to relax, recharge, and enjoy the beauty of mother nature, then a countryside drive may be just what you need.
